In most parts of the world, ZTE has not proper representation but in USA, it is one of the best smartphone making companies. In past, this company has introduced some really good android smartphones and it is still doing the same. ZTE may not have a huge following outside US but inside the country, it has got a huge customer database. Recently, ZTE has introduced a new smartphone called ZTE Prelude in the US market. In this post, I’m going to review that handset for you.

Design and Build

The first thing to consider about any smartphone is its physical looks. The overall length of ZTE Prelude is 4.6 inches and it is 2.5 inches wide. The thickness of the phone is 0.45 inches and the weight of this smartphone is only 4.4 ounces. By all means, ZTE Prelude is a compact, good looking mediocre Android smartphone.

I must mention here that the design of ZTE Prelude is not much impressive. They could have done better with its design but still, it is acceptable. You can notice some unique detailing on the back plate of ZTE Prelude. Matte plastic has been used in making of back battery cover of this smartphone. The grey curved lines on the back plate add uniqueness in the design of this smartphone for sure. Another good thing about its back cover is that, it fends of fingerprints very easily. The surface of the phone feels really smooth and feels good to the skin.

On the left side of the phone, there is a volume rocker button. On the top, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack accompanied with sleep/ power button. The display screen of ZTE Prelude is 3.5 inches. It has got TFT LCD display and the screen resolution is 320×480 pixels. Just below the screen, there are three menu keys for back, home and menu.

On the back side, it has got a 2MP camera. The camera result is not good at all and it also does not have flash as well. I’m sure that you will not be using this camera to take photos or shoot videos. Just below camera, there are two slits for audio speakers. Just like the camera, the quality of speakers is not good too. However, you can enjoy listening to music on this device by attaching audio cords.

By all means, ZTE Prelude is an entry level device but I was really pleased to know that it ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. All the basic android apps are preinstalled in this device like Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Hangouts etc.

There is a 1GHz single-core processor powering the handset backed by 512MB of RAM. There is a 1,400mAh batter installed in the smartphone that is good enough to run the phone for a day once fully charged. The internal memory of the handset is 4GB but you can expand it up to 32GB by installing microSD card.
