Are you planning to get a video game console but cannot decide between “Xbox One and playStation 4“? Well, we are here to help you. We will be pointing out the major advantages and disadvantages of both consoles and whether you should go for the “Sony PlayStation 4” or get yourself a “Microsoft Xbox One“.
Xbox One vs PlayStation 4 – The Hardware
One of the main things that should be kept in mind is the type of hardware that you are getting and at what price. Comparing Xbox One and “PlayStation 4” is actually a pretty hard thing since both the consoles are almost equal in specs. Both have the same CPU with a very little difference in the clock speed. The graphics unit is also sponsored by the AMD for both consoles. But here, PS4 takes the lead. Although the GPU found in the “Xbox One” is clocked higher than the PS4, the latter is said to have 50% more computing units than the former one. So it means that on paper, Sony’s PS4 gets the graphical advantage over the Xbox One.
Xbox One vs PlayStation 4 – The Controllers
Controller is another important part of the video game console. Controller is the only thing that connects the user with the console. If you are holding a controller that does not sit well in hands, then even the best game cannot give you that feel that it is supposed to give. Sony’s DualShock 4 Controller is a great improvement over the DualShock 3 controller whereas the Xbox One controller inherits majority of its design features from the Xbox 360 controller. The touchpad on the DualShock 4 controller adds new features like multi gestures, similar to a smartphone, inside the games and on the menu. The touchpad also allows clicking just like a laptop touchpad. On the other hand, Xbox One controller only saw few changes. The D-pad controller is now articulated so it feels less mushy now. Also, there are new controller’s triggers added to enhance the vibration feedback in certain games. But overall, both controllers are equal in performance.
Xbox One vs PlayStation 4 – Exclusive Games
Another thing to differentiate between two consoles is the number of exclusive titles released for both consoles. In this regard, PS4 crushes Xbox One with almost double the number of exclusive tiles of Xbox One. But one should keep this in mind that it is not about quantity, it’s about quality. Xbox One exclusive titles include some heavy names including Dead Rising, Forza 5, Killer instinct etc. But if you are looking for more exclusive material, then PS4 is the right choice for you.
Xbox One vs PlayStation 4 – Features
Microsoft has tried to make Xbox One as a living room device. It’s not just a video game console but the only source of entertainment in your living room. Xbox One user interface allows you to control cable TV, gaming, streaming video and much more without disconnecting the console to watch normal TV. You can also login to your social media accounts like Facebook, Gmail.com and can do Skype as well. On the other hand, PS4 does have some impressive features like game broadcasting and clip sharing, but it is not at that level of Xbox One. So here, Xbox One wins over PS4.
Xbox One vs PlayStation 4 – Price and Value
The last thing is the price to performance ratio. PS4 is $100 less expensive than Xbox One, so one might think, is it justifiable that Xbox One is $100 more expensive than the PS4 but has more features? Yes it is but then it comes to the point that not everyone needs that much from their console that they will only use for video gaming.
In a nutshell, both consoles stand together with the PS4 standing a little above the Xbox One due to more exclusive titles and less price tag than the Xbox One. But if you are a fan of Xbox, then this $100 price difference won’t stop you from buy the Xbox One for sure.
