Few Xbox One Features – You Must Know Them

Xbox One is expected to release this November, probably on 27th. Microsoft is to shift the attention of the critics on the positive features that Xbox One is assumed to have.

Similarity with Xbox 360

The new Xbox, Xbox One has got an inherited look from its descendant called Xbox 360. The comprehensive look of the controllers somehow resembles the previous ones too. You can say that the controllers are different but the keys are similar to Xbox 360 (Y, X B and A). An edge of Xbox One over Xbox 360 is that the controllers are not that colossal.

A Changed D-Pad

Xbox freaks should notice it. A lot of complaints about the hard D-Pad were registered. An advance D-Pad will now be experienced by the gamers. So you can say, it would be easy to play the action games as well as the sports. It is reported by the Official Amazon page:

Newly designed D-pad is perfect for all types of game genres including sports, fighting, FPS, and more. Optimized for both directional and sweeping D-pad movements.

Impulse Triggers and A Menu/View Button Have Been Added

The Director of programming for Xbox, Larry Hyrb, explained about the impulse triggers:

Xbox One’s Wireless Controller sports four vibration motors – a small one behind each trigger that adds precise hap-tic feedback to the fingertips, and a larger in each grip for large scale rumbles. This gives users a sense of in-game directionality and depth, creating rich experiences where gunshots, car crashes and explosions can come to life.

For example, in “Forza Motorsport 5,” Turn 10 Studios is using impulse triggers to provide players with precise feedback that enhances the racing experience. If your tires break traction from over-acceleration or if you drift on the gas pedal, the triggers emit very distinct vibrations. This is combined with the chassis rumble that conveys impacts, engine roar and driving over surface irregularities like cobblestone.

And now, IGN explained the behind the scene intention of the buttons:

The Xbox One Controller introduces two new buttons on Xbox where Start and Back appeared on Xbox 360. These buttons are named ‘Menu’ and ‘View’.

Menu: “The Menu button (on the right) will bring up context-specific menus which game and app developers can design to enhance the user experience. The Menu button could be used in scenarios such as bringing up in-game menus, showing video playback options, and accessing commands on the console’s user interface.”

View: The View button “will change views or provide more information in games and apps. The function of the View button will be driven by developers. Possible uses of the View button include viewing a map during a role playing game, displaying a leader-board in a first person shooter, and enhancing the navigation of the console’s user interface.”

Few Other Additions

  • The Controller Will Turn Itself Off and Charge During Times of Inactive Play.
  • The Analog Sticks Have Been Improved.

Its all for you. Enjoy!
