Sony is back with a bang and it is producing and shipping its latest smartphones in market now. Let’s not discuss the break up issue between Sony and Ericsson because that is an old story now and Sony is through it already. Maintaining the Xperia brand name, Sony has produced some great smartphones and once of them is going to be reviewed by us today.
The best thing about Sony Xperia TL is its price that is only $99 on contract. It has got a swift processor to provide best speed and it supports 4G LTE network too. The battery life of this smartphone is quite impressive and it has also got a powerful camera too. One thing that you may not like about this smartphone is its weight; I too find it quite heavy. The look may also be another turn-off feature for you because it is not as impressive as it should have been. Over all, this smartphone is great and you will see that in detailed review below. I can say that Sony Xperia TL is the best smartphone that Sony has ever unveiled in US market.
Once you will take a look at the Sony Xperia TL, you may not like it at all because the hardware design is not that much impressive. Still, many people will like this design and look so I leave it up to you to decide what you think about it.
The total length of this smartphone is 5.1-inches, its width is 2.6-inches and the thickness is about 0.4-inches. It is not much different from its predecessor, the Xperia Ion. It has a 4.55-inch LCD screen covered with Gorilla glass for better protection and it supports a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels.
Just above the screen, you will find a 1.3 megapixel camera to capture a photo or to use for video calling. Just like many latest Android smartphones, you will not find any physical buttons on front side of this handset because it supports three software-based buttons “Back”, “Home”, and “Recent Applications”.
As described above, the Sony Xperia TL uses a large 4.55-inch LCD screen that supports 1280-720 pixel screen resolution. The screen is very bright which is best for presenting details of an image or video. In no way, the display features of this smartphone can be compared with high-end smartphones like Samsung Galaxy SIII or Motorola Droid Razr HD.
Software and UI
Previously, Sony kept using Android 2.3 Gingerbread in its smartphones and that was the main reason why I was not a big fan of Sony. However, this time you can get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in this smartphone. Still, this is not the latest OS by Google but it can do wonders for you. Most of the people that have used Android 4.0 ICS are happy with its performance.
One of the funny things about Sony Xperia TL is that, it uses sound theme of “Skyfall” which is getting mixed response from customers. I didn’t really like James Bond them playing for my phone so I disabled it.
