I know many people who have been looking to upgrade their smartphone but they are not willing to buy Samsung Galaxy S4 because they think this phone will complicate their simple lives because it offers so many features. Well, you cannot live without a fast processing smartphone running on a latest Android OS in today’s world. If you are not a fan of Samsung Galaxy S4 because of its bulk size then Samsung has got something else to offer for you. Recently, they have introduced Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. Those people who think that Galaxy S4 is too mainstream for them should stick to Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini because it can fit into your budget and pocket very easily.
Design and build
The size of the GS4 Mini is smaller than the GS4 and it is more in thickness too. The overall design of both the devices is quite similar and it is difficult to spot any difference at all. The overall length of SG4 Mini is 4.9 inches and its width is 2.4 inches. The depth of the handset is 0.35 inches and its weight is 3.7 ounces only. There is also a 3G only, dual SIM version of Galaxy S4 Mini in the market too. As far as the screen is concerned, this handset has got a 4.3 inches Super AMOLED screen and the phone is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor.
If you want to use your GS4 Mini peacefully then I would suggest you not to compare it with its big cousin GS4.
Features and OS
The most important thing about GS4 Mini is that, it runs on Android OS version 4.2.2 Jelly Bean along with Samsung’s TouchWiz layer. The overall UI of the handset is quite good and acceptable for a person like me who is hardly impressed by UI of iOS.
The customization and tweaking done by Samsung for its TouchWiz system really spoils the taste of original Android OS but it also makes your life a lot easier. There are many settings in this handset that you will truly appreciate and want to keep for the rest of your life with improvements.
Cameras and video
Another important thing to consider about a smartphone is its Camera quality. The GS4 comes with a 13MP camera but is smaller cousin GS4 Mini comes with an 8MP camera. It is quite clear that the picture and video quality of both cameras differ from each other but again, did I not warned you to compare both devices with each other, in the beginning of this review? The overall camera quality of GS4 Mini is satisfactory and don’t worry, your pictures will not be ruined due to lower quality of your phone camera. You can also shoot 1080p HD video very smoothly with GS4 Mini. The front camera of Galaxy S4 Mini is 1.9MP and it is quite good enough for self-portraits and video chat etc.
