Motorola has always been a big name in the field of mobile phone making and other technological stuff. Just a year ago, Google purchased the Motorola Mobility and now they are working hard to produce such smartphones and tablets that run on Google’s mobile OS aka Android. In this post, I’m going to review Motorola Xoom tablet for you so you can get an idea about this tablet before making a purchase.
The hardware design of this tablet is quite good in fact; I would say that it is impressive. The weight of the tablet is 730 grams and its thickness is 12.9 mm. The screen of Motorola Xoom is 10.1 inches wide and it has got a total screen resolution of 1280×800 pixels. This means that you will really like watching movies and surfing the internet on this tablet. There is no doubt that this beastly device was actually designed to use in landscape mode because you can really get a great a view of screen in this way.
If you would like to video chat with your friends and family then there is a 2 mega pixel camera at the front side of this tablet. This camera can help you capture great quality videos and you will really enjoy video chatting with your friends as well. On the back side, there is a 5 megapixel camera that will help you take great pictures and also shoot 720p videos. I used the back camera to shoot some videos and I must say that they looked great.
Motorola Xoom runs on Android 3.0 Honey Comb. Although, I would love to see it running at least Android 4.0 ICS OS but the version 3.0 works really well too. The device was designed keeping the Honey Comb in mind so you better run it with same OS. However, if you are not a big fan of Android OS 3.0, you can install upgrade it to the latest OS as well. The navigation has been made really easy in this device.
Video And Music
As we all know that the Xoom has got a 10.1 inch screen so you would expect to watch High Definition videos on it right? The problem that I have found with this tablet is that, the default video player is very picky. You may not be able to run even very popular file formats on it. However, there are third party apps available for this purpose. The best solution for this purpose is to convert all your files into mp4 format. This will make it easy for you to play your required movies and audio songs.
The battery life is completely dependent on your use. However, the battery timing of this tablet can be compared with that of iPad. I was able to use the Xoom for 10 consecutive hours after getting it completely charged.
