Is Android Difficult To Use For An Average User?

One thing is clear that Android is dominating the smartphone market at the moment and according to reports, almost 72% of smartphone market is populated with Android devices. Still, during the Thanksgiving and Black Friday, Android devices were not able to make a difference in front of iOS devices. It makes me wonder what could have gone wrong with Android. May be it is not that easy for an average user to understand how to use Android phones. According to reports and statistical data from different online sellers, it is quite clear that on Thanksgiving, majority of public bought iOS devices instead of Android devices. Is it a trend that people like to buy iOS devices to give to their friends and family as a gift? If this is the trend then why in the world Android is domination the smartphone market right now?

It is clear that Android has completely crushed the smartphone competition in just 3 years. But again, if Android is the most popular OS in the world and people are crazy about Android devices then why the same people were buying iOS devices on Thanksgiving?

One thing that comes to my mind is that, iOS users have more money to spend on devices and that is why majority of devices sold during Thanksgiving and Black Friday were iOS devices. Android devices are available in extremely cheap prices as well. Actually, you can find all kind of varieties when you go out to buy an Android smartphone or tablet. It doesn’t matter if you have a huge budget in your pocket or not, one you go out, you always come back with an Android device that falls under your budget. On the other hand, iOS devices have a set standard. These devices come in a fixed price that reduces only during Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

One thing that must be kept in mind is that, not all Android devices are cheap. Especially when we talk about the high end smartphones and tablets, they still cost a fortune. So if you were going to suggest that Android users differ demographically then you are wrong. This suggestion has been dismissed by Dediu as well. He said, “I’m not satisfied with the explanation that Android users are demographically different, because the Android user pool is now so vast and because the most popular devices are not exactly cheap.”

So it is clear that the reason why iOS device outsold Android device on Thanksgiving and Black Friday are not known to us. It can be anything like the advertisement or marketing strategy of Apple or the stores that sell iOS devices and something is forcing me to believe this theory of mine. Everywhere on the streets, in the markets and even on the internet, I was seeing ads running about iPhone 5 and iPad etc. There were only a few ads about Android or other devices.
