It’s been almost a month since there are different hacking attacks on some of the very famous websites on the internet. There are hardly any websites that are safe from these attacks. In some cases, the attacks go useless and nobody gets to know about them but when hackers get even slight access to a site, entire world gets to know about it. Today, Tumblr has also been attacked by hackers. Different accounts have been hacked and a seriously offending and racist post has been circulation on Tumblr today. The message has something to do with ‘GNAA video’ post.
Many high authority pages and accounts were hacked and spreading hatred messages on the internet. Tumblr account owned by “USA Today” was also among those accounts that got affected as a result of hacking attack.
“There is a viral post circulating on Tumblr which begins ‘Dearest Tumblr users,'” a Tumblr spokesperson said in a statement. “If you have viewed this post, please log out of all browsers that may be using Tumblr immediately. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as swiftly as possible. Thank you.”
If you are wondering what in the world GNAA is then let me tell you a little bit I know about them. This is basically an anti-blogging, internet trolling organization. We were able to track the Twitter account of one of the team members and that account was pointing toward Tumblr with a tag. Apparently, it was to keep record of successful hacking attempts. The number was not in hundreds but thousands which means that Tumblr user should get worried about this issue.
An easy fix has been issued by Gizmodo in this case as they say, “In the event you’re infected, go to the Tumblr mass editor, delete the bad posts, and refresh. And though there’s no evidence the GNAA has actually accessed your account, you should go ahead and change your password. This exploit shouldn’t last longer than about 10 minutes. In the meantime, avoid visiting individual Tumblrs and stick to the dashboard.”
According to Gizmodo, a Tumbler user should not worry about their accounts as their first priority should be to make their information secure and keep their followers safe from those hatred messages being spread by hackers. If you find your Tumblr account spreading any suspicious information then you can simply follow the steps described by Gizmodo as it will help you stay safe from further attacks and also to vanish the previous hacking records on your account.
Tumblr has been used by millions of people all over the world. You can share your thoughts and ideas in the form of blog posts on this platform. There are plenty of things that a person can share on Tumblr like a blog post, a piece of written content, an image, a video or a multimedia file. Users have the ability to keep their blog posts public or to make them private. Most of the features of this social networking platform are accessed with the help of dashboard as each user has his own dashboard to manage his content.
Have you noticed any suspicious activity in your Tumbler account? What according to you can be the cause of all these hacking attacks all of a sudden?
