1: Start Menu Properties

first of all we will discuss the start menu properties, to get the start menu properties window you have to move the mouse cursor on to the left lower side of the screen and then, right click on the “Start” after right click on the start, click on the properties as shown in the picture below.

Click on the Properties of the start menu will bring a properties window of the start menu, there will see two options, start menu and classic start menu with a “customize” button in front of them as shown in the picture below.

First of all choose “start menu” then click on customize for it. In Customize you will see two for it, one is general and one is advanced, in the general tab you can set the icons size, number of programs in start menu and you can select programs to show in start menu.

In the Advanced tab of the Star menu properties you can set some other settings for the start menu like you can clear the list of recent documents, select the items to show in the start menu as shown  in the picture below.

2: Taskbar Properties

Now its time for the taskbar properties, for this move the mouse cursor to the taskbar below and right click on it and then click on the properties as shown in the picture below. This will open the properties of the taskbar.

You can also manage the icons in the notifications area of the taskbar, for this click on “Customize” in front of  “hide inactive icons“, then a new window will open where you can set the programs’ icons always hide, always show and to hide when active.
