I seriously have no idea why Samsung is always on a spree to launch so many sequels or look alike devices. Recently, I covered the all the Galaxy Players introduced by Samsung and now I’m here to review the entire Galaxy tabs that are available in the market. Anyways, I will not bore you guys with my stupid talk and get down with the business and start reviewing the Samsung Galaxy Tap 8.9. Seriously, Galaxy Tab 8.9! Okay, I won’t say anymore word here.
You must have seen or used Galaxy tab 10.1 and I must add here that the design for galaxy tab 8.9 is quite similar to that bigger brother. However, you will find it easier to hold this device in your hands. One thing that must be mentioned here is that, Samsung has found a corporate image for their tablets and if you look around, you will find that most of the companies are still experimenting with the designs of their tablets. At the back, you will find pure plastic on this 8.9 inch tablet and faux brushed metal texture as well. When you touch it, you get a nice feeling. The color is dark bluish but Samsung calls it metallic gray so we will also stick with the same color name. There are two storage options available for this tablet; 16 GB and 32 GB. Unfortunately, there is no SD card facility available in this device.
Performance and Battery Life
You will find 1GHz dual-core processor in this tablet that is backed by 1GB of RAM. This is the same processing speed that you will find in Galaxy Tab 10.1. The performance is no different from Gal Tab 10.1 as well. If you turn off the device and then turn it on again, it will take 35 seconds to get loaded completely which is a fine rebooting speed for a tablet.
To be honest with you, there is not much difference between galaxy tab 10.1 and 8.9 but the only difference is of display screen size. However, as compared to 10.1 inch tab, Galaxy tab 8.9 seems to load some apps at a slower pace. However, if you haven’t used galaxy tab 10.1, you will never be able to sot the difference in processing speed. The battery life of the tablet is also quite good. I was able to run consecutive videos on it for 8 hours.
Again, the camera is identical to the one we have got in galaxy tab 10.1. There is no difference in the camera quality at all. Its camera will take good shots for you but of course, it is not an alternative for your DSLR.
The time when Galaxy tab 8.9 was launched, it was running on Android Honeycomb 3.1 along with TouchWiz UI of Samsung. However, a latest update for the tablet has been introduced and now you can run it on Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 as well.
