For the first time, it has happened that an Apple product has been launched after another fine smartphone coming into market by a company like Samsung. I must say that Samsun is taking it really seriously and that is completely visible in Galaxy S3. In this post, we are going to compare two high-end smartphones that are available in market right now, the Samsung Galaxy SIII and the Apple’s iPhone 5.
Release Date and Sales
Samsung Galaxy SIII was released on May 2012 whereas the iPhone 5 was released in September 2012.
During the first 24 hours of its release, iPhone had sold 2 million pieces already and by the end of weekend, the sale had reached to a crazy 5 million handsets. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy SIII has already been in market since a long time but it did really well too. According to reports, it crossed a 10 million barrier very fast as compared to other smartphones by Samsung like Galaxy S and Galaxy SII.
According to the predictions, by the end of 2012, iPhone 5 will have sold more than 26 million units but on the other hand, Samsung Galaxy SIII will be touching the mark of 30 million units. It must be kept in mind that Galaxy SIII has been in market way longer than the iPhone 5.
iPhone 5 is 7.6mm thick, has metal casing and non-removable battery. Samsung Galaxy SIII has a thickness of 8.6mm, it has plastic casing and the battery can be removed.
Apple has tried it best to make iPhone 5 as thin as possible and it is completely visible from the design of it. The glass screen has gone, it uses a Nano-SIM to reduce the size even more and entire front side is using as much space as possible to display the screen.
From the looks, the iPhone 5 seems pretty nice and decent but it must be mentioned here that SIII is not less in any case as well. I will have to give equal marks to both the handsets in this case as I like both of them.
The iPhone 5 has a new design of Earpod headphones and of course the new Lightning power connector as well. With Samsung Galaxy S3, you will find MicroUSB charger cable, noise isolating IEM earphones by Samsung and an adapter.
Usually, accessories don’t carry much weight because it is the performance and design of a handset that matters but looking at the accessories attached with iPhone 5, you must feel impressed. The earpods have got a unique design that you will not find anywhere else.
The mighty iPhone 5 has got a 4-inch IPS screen having a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels. The Samsung Galaxy SIII has an 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
This is for the first time that any version of iPhone has got a 4inch display screen.
