It seems like Samsung is really putting up a great show by introducing some of the great devices in the market. If you take a look around, you will find that Samsung is the biggest stake holder in smartphone market after Apple and that is enough to convince anyone for trying their new device called Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0. In this post, we will be reviewing this new deice by Samsung and figure out how good it is.
If you have seen Samsung Vibrant from T-Mobile then you can compare its design with that of Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0. Though, this device has got a front facing camera, a white color casing and screen size is also bigger as well. You may want to compare it with Apple’s iPod touch 4 but keep on thing in mind that it is bigger and heavier than that device. The name Galaxy Player 5.0 has been given to this device because it has got a 5 inch display screen. The screen resolution of this device is 640×480 pixels. On the back side, you will find a rear facing 3.2 megapixel camera too. The camera is also equipped with the flash light as well. To give you a convenient access, the MicroSD card slot is available at the top on back side of the device.
Performance and Specs
Galaxy Player by Samsung works like just any other Android smartphone because the operating system used in this device is Google’s Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. In order to compete with iPod touch 4, this device must get a software upgrade but so far, we haven’t heard anything about the update. The device is powered by a 1GHz single core processor backed by 512MB of RAM. Both the specs combined together, provide a fluent support to this device and it runs very smoothly too. However, you may find the apps hanging a little bit because only a single core processor has been used in this device.
The best thing about Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 is its battery timing. You can listen to songs for 60 consecutive hours and if you want to watch videos, it supports 8 hours of video playback time. However, the battery requires a lot of time for getting charged completely. If you get is battery completely drained, it will take you 4 to 5 hours for getting it completely charged again.
Software and Extras
Just like any other android device, you can use all those application that are compatible with device and are available on Google Play store. Since, there is no cellular chip support in this device; you will have to connect it with the internet via Wi-Fi connection. The android doesn’t look like the same as it does on other Android smartphones introduced by Samsung. However, most of the people have nothing to do with the interface because you buy this device as a media player, not a smartphone.
What are your thoughts about Galaxy Player 5.0? Do you think that Samsung has done justice with this device?
