If you take a look at the User Interface of Windows 8 then you will find it completely different from previous version of Windows. There is no doubt that Microsoft has brought so many changes in Windows 8. However, all these changes are really good looking. There is no doubt that the new UI of Windows 8 is very User Friendly and easy to use. We are quite used to of using the old UI of Windows that has been used in Windows 8, Win ME, Win 2000, Win XP, Win Vista and Win 7. This time, Microsoft has re-designed the UI of Windows 8 to give its users a new and fresh experience.
At first glance, you will think that Windows 8 is totally different from the previous operating systems and this is because the Microsoft has changed the user interface of this new Windows. It might require some time at your end to understand how the new interface works but if you are someone who has already used Win 8 in developers preview then learning this new user interface and working in it will not be a big problem for you. There are a lot of changes that have been made in Windows 8 from which Ribbon UI is also one. It can be said that many users will not like this ribbon in Win 8 and may want to get rid of it but at times, they may need to have access to ribbon as well. Luckily, there are such solutions available with the help of which a user can permanently or temporarily hide the ribbon in Win 8. If you hide the ribbon then you will only see the main bar and the left tabs. If you will click on the tab then related tasks will be shown however Ribbon will stay minimized.
How to Minimize Ribbon Forever
1. Look above the Ribbon and click on “Customize Quick Access Toolbar”.
2. You will find the option of “Minimize the Ribbon” at bottom, select that option.
3. Ribbon will be minimized in this way and you will be able to access Tabs whenever you want.
Once you have minimized the ribbon using “Quick Access Toolbar”, it will also become minimized after you have accessed it.
Minimize Ribbon Temporarily
You may want to minimize the Ribbon Temporarily so that you can have access to it in future if required. There are two ways of doing this.
- Press “CTRL+F1” on the keyboard and Ribbon will be minimized temporarily.
- Just double click on any tab and the Ribbon will get minimized for a short duration of time.
